Abstract

Turkish strategic direction toward Iraq expresses the response to the challenges of
the geopolitical location, which imposes on Turkey attention regional considerations
surrounding as a threat to its national security or to establish economic relations or
the movement and influence regional.
On this basis, Turkey has identified elements of its strategy toward Iraq in order to
achieve the goals of central Perhaps the most important of which geopolitical
security, and to ensure economic security
This goal is based on understanding of Turkey to the size of the imbalance that
resulted from the change Iraq's position in the regional balance equation after 2003
and the consequent change in the structure of strategic balances and track alliances
that existed.
This requires that Turkey interact with the nature of the developments in Iraq,
through participation in the order in which the situation and influence in the internal
environment.
Through influential act in the matter of Iraq, Turkey is working to ensure its
interests in one of the most important areas of strategic depth, as well as
confirmation of its position in the US strategy in the region
