Abstract

The research deals with the islamists In Tunisia particularly the movement of en-Nahda (the renaissance). It studies its political role both when it was in opposition in the two periods of the presidents Habib Bourquiba and Zine el-Abidine bin Ali .Through these periods it exposed to repression and marginalization. As well as, the study sheds light on the reasons behind that. The study deals also with the role of the movement when it was in power. It highlights the movement attitude about the revolution and democracy, and the role of en-Nahdween after the uprising which gave them chance to exercise an important political role when they formed a coalition government .The paper analyzes their political role during two periods and the extent of their political experience.
